Moyo is enjoying flavored ice at a little festival her kindergarten holds each year (except that last year it was canceled due to a typhoon). She is wearing her yukata.

Who says today's youth need electronics to have fun? Moyo can still enjoy a good cardboard box.

This was the day of the big fireworks display in Kurume. Kayomi had heard you could view the show from the roof of the local shopping mall, so we gave that a try, but none of us were satisfied. We quickly left the mall and went over behind Kurume-Usu, a little museum providing information about the Chikugo River, complete with aquariums containing local fish. There was not as much ambient light there, and not as many people, so it was a significant improvement over the mall, but next year I hope to get a little closer to the display, as we did last year.
